Our Volunteer Assistance Program (VAP) coordinates a network of volunteers and local businesses to provide labor and materials to help Phoenix residents who are experiencing financial hardships and/or physical limitations with assistance on basic home and yard maintenance.
Neighborhood cleanups begin with individuals, neighborhoods and corporate organizations applying for a community cleanup through HPN and the city's Neighborhood Services Department (NSD). You bring the helping hands, HPN and NSD will provide a dumpster, trash bags and gloves! Dumpsters are available for community cleanups through the city's Public Works Department. We also support residents with pool fill-ins to help with code compliance and residents' health and safety.
Graffiti Paint-Outs bring together individuals, neighborhoods and corporate organizations to join the city and work toward a graffiti-free Phoenix. Free paint and supplies will be provided to any group organizing a neighborhood cleanup or simply needing to remove graffiti.
In-kind donations make these cleanup events possible. We utilize in-kind donations of materials and services to support low- to moderate-income residents who are experiencing financial hardships and/or physical limitations and help with basic home and yard maintenance and NSD volunteers. Accepted donations include: gift cards, tickets to events, landscaping tools and supplies, water, food and skilled volunteer labor for special projects.
We encourage residents to engage in our youth scholarship programs. Over the past couple years, we developed the Tomorrow's Involved Leaders Today (TILT) Program to empower youth through community service and become the next generation of leaders in their community and beyond. It introduces area youth to opportunities that foster civic engagement, the importance of remaining active in their communities and creates a sense of pride in their neighborhoods.
Our Home Maintenance Training Program is for Phoenix residents who receive housing rehabilitation assistance. We want to equip you with the knowledge, skills and confidence to address routine home maintenance issues. This comprehensive approach, sponsored by the city and currently in need of a program partner, allows participants to learn about resolving home repair complaints, replacement costs and tips on how to extend the lives of systems and appliances. If your organization or corporation is interested in a partnership, please inquire via email.
We encourage residents to develop and implement graffiti education and awareness campaigns in your neighborhoods. Let your community know how you can work together to prevent graffiti vandalism through prevention and awareness to take ownership of your neighborhood.
You can apply for Neighborhood Grants to transform your block into what your neighborhood needs. This resident-driven initiative will work to engage residents in an action-oriented planning process equipped with up to $1,000 that will build the capacity of residents to cultivate healthier, more complete, safer neighborhoods. [More information coming soon]
We also like to fund Partner Projects as much as we can. Inquire with HPN as to how we can help with your project for the betterment of the Phoenix community!
